DURANGO BOUND
It nearly took forever
For her to finally see
Her future lay before her
And the woman she could be
It was the beauty of the mountains
The gentle flowing streams
Which had caused in her a longing,
And filled her heart with dreams
She's sitting in the driver’s seat,
The San Juan’s in full view
It seems like only yesterday
When she was leaving you
With the roaring of the engine
Making the only sound
She’s flying down the highway
This Girl's Durango bound
In her Mustang full of boxes
Cup of coffee in her hand
She is thinking of tomorrow
Not thinking of the man
She’ll be free in Durango
In its lace of pristine snow
Where the rivers flow in springtime
And cool mountain breezes blow
It is here she’ll find adventure
It’s here she’ll find new life
It is here she’ll find a new love
In the starlit mountain night
She's sitting in the driver’s seat,
The San Juan’s in full view
It seems like only yesterday
When she was leaving you!
And the roaring of the engine
Makes the only sound
As she's flying down the highway,
This Girl's Durango bound.
